June’s began in 2013 when our founder Janet, driving home to New Mexico from California with her late mother’s cat, decided she needed to do something to help senior cats who are left homeless when their owners pass away or become too sick to care for them. Since then, we’ve grown to about 50 cats in our main foster home, Hannah’s House, and other foster homes throughout New Mexico.
A critical part of what we do here at June’s is provide hospice and palliative care to cats who come to June’s to stay. These long-term residents may stay with us for anywhere from a few weeks to several years getting the love, careful care, and comfort they need for their health issues. From cats like Sweet Pea and Ruggles, who were with us only a short time, to Buttercup, Jersey, Hunny Bunny, and Hope, long-term residents who turned into “June’s welcoming committee,” every June’s cat receives the comfort, care, and love they deserve.
