Providing Comfort, Dignity, and Love to Our Senior Cats—Always

At June’s Senior Cat Rescue, one of the most meaningful—and most difficult—parts of our mission is providing end-of-life care. It’s not something many people want to think about, but when you care for senior cats, it becomes a tender reality.

Our goal is simple yet profound: to make sure every cat we take in spends their golden years surrounded by comfort, dignity, and love. And when the time comes, we make sure their final days are filled with that same care and gentleness.

Some weeks are harder than others. This past week, we said goodbye to three of our beloved seniors—Tailless, Sara, and Abby—helping them pass peacefully after their health declined.

Tailless, a black-and-white tuxedo girl, was confident, affectionate, and just a little bit sassy. She loved to perch on her foster mom’s shoulder to watch TV and had a knack for letting everyone know exactly where they stood with her.

Sara, a sweet 17-year-old tortie, was the ultimate lap cat. Every evening, when the TV turned on, she would make her way to the couch and wait patiently for her foster mom to join her. Despite arthritis and the aches of age, her monthly pain treatments kept her comfortable—and her heart stayed full.

Abby, a gentle 16-year-old tabby and white girl, preferred quiet days in her favorite spot on the couch. She was content to nap the day away, enjoying her meals and her soft place in the world.

Losing a cat never gets easier. But we take deep comfort in knowing that Tailless, Sara, and Abby didn’t leave this world outdoors, in a cage, or alone. Each of them was surrounded by warmth, care, and love—exactly as every senior cat deserves.

This is the heart of what we do. Thank you for standing with us, for helping make sure every cat at June’s knows comfort to the very end.

If you’d like to make a gift in memory of Tailless, Sara, Abby, or a beloved cat who has touched your own life, your support will help us continue this vital, tender work.
