Overview
June’s Senior Cat Rescue is seeking a second volunteer coordinator who can support the current volunteer coordinator with their duties. We are ramping up our volunteer opportunities, and extra support is needed to fulfill our mission of helping senior cats.
The Volunteer Coordinator II is responsible for supporting the volunteer program within the nonprofit organization. This volunteer role requires up to 5 hours per week and involves collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator, and in some cases the Development Director, and with the Executive Director for training and support of volunteers to ensure the organization’s mission and objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to support organizational programs, fundraising, and community events.
- In conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator, participate in community events by staffing events in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. This requires in-person participation at the events.
- Recruit volunteers and ask them to complete an online application and share our event info; however, they are not to contact them directly, since the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for contacting all volunteers.
- In conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator, plan and conduct orientation and training sessions for new volunteers.
- Track volunteer hours and maintain accurate records.
- Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions. This allows us to build a community in which volunteers have opportunities to get to know one another and know they are an integral part of June’s.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator, with a team approach and individually.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Experience working with volunteers or in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
This person must primarily focus on the volunteer aspect and will not be working with fosters and adopters.
Any activities for the volunteer coordinator II that fall outside the job description must be approved by the ED.
