Butters

If you’ve spent any time around Hannah’s House, chances are you’ve already met Butters—or at least heard a story about him.

At just 6 years old, Butters is one of our younger residents, but he’s already overcome more than most cats ever should.

We first found Butters in a shelter with a severely swollen face. Cats with injuries or illnesses in this shelter often have very little time, so we knew we had to help him. Once he arrived at our veterinarian, we learned just how much this sweet boy had endured. Some type of severe trauma had damaged his face, affecting his mouth, teeth, sinuses, and eyes.

Today, Butters is doing much better, but he still lives with lasting effects from those injuries. His eyes require regular cleaning and occasional medication, and he’ll likely need ongoing care for the rest of his life.

Fortunately, Butters doesn’t spend much time worrying about any of that.

Instead, he’s busy being Butters.

This lovable orange boy has become something of a celebrity at Hannah’s House. He’s convinced every meeting should include him, whether that means sitting directly on important papers or supervising from in front of the computer. He has a talent for appearing exactly where he’s least expected—inside bags, investigating supplies, or keeping watch from his favorite window perch.

And yes, he’s even been caught stealing a piece of pizza.

It’s impossible not to smile when Butters is around. Despite everything he’s been through, he greets each day with curiosity, optimism, and a knack for finding himself at the center of whatever is happening.
