Join Lance’s Dream Team!

Lance came to us in a roundabout way, through our Help Meowt program in 2025, when a caring neighbor reached out, worried about his severely infected eyes. Lance’s caregiver was struggling, and despite the best intentions, he wasn’t able to give Lance the care he desperately needed. Though we didn’t have space at Hannah’s House at the time, we acted immediately through our Help Meowt program to get Lance medical care. He received an antibiotic injection and eye drops, and we placed him on our waitlist until a room opened up.

But then the concerned friend contacted us again—Lance’s caregiver hadn’t been able to keep up with the treatment plan, and Lance’s eyes were worsening rapidly. He was in pain. He was declining. And he had no one who could provide the consistent care he needed to heal. We knew then that waiting was no longer an option.

Once he arrived at June’s, everything changed. With proper treatment, follow-up, and care, his eyes began to heal quickly. At his first vet visit, the plan was to remove at least one eye, but after weeks of steady care, the vet thought Lance’s eye could be saved.

But once Lance was healed and living his best feline life in a foster home, we noticed something looked different about his eye. Knowing how quickly the situation can change, we took Lance to the vet to get it checked out. After examining Lance’s eye, the vets were concerned it was a tumor and removed his eye for a biopsy. A week later, we learned that this sweet, friendly boy had cancer.

Lance is now getting comfort treatment and enjoying his time with his foster, who dotes on his every need. His story illustrates the continued care so many of our cats need when they come to June’s.
